Liverpool lucky to avoid the big guns but then at this stage never underestimate your opponents as all of them are good teams .

Some fans are really out of their minds!!! Questions why Klopp never field the young guns. Now too much negative comments on the young players. Worst than pundits!!!

Think Liverpool have received one of the better draws in the CL. Not easy but better than facing Europe's big boys!!!

Happy Tuesday after looking at the CL draw

No easy tie but probably one of the more favourable ones.

Now let's get back on track tomorrow night against West Brom!

It is stupidity to field young guns in a local derby match or big match. How many games did Solanke play before Everton match?

Will Barca rests Messi when playing against Madrid? Top players expect and want to play these matches....

Not protecting Klopp here but the way the team played, we would have won maybe 80% of the matches. There were some fresh faces but they injected plenty of energy into the game.

The only failure was not scoring that 2nd goal that would have force Everton to play a more expansive game.

Not happy with the draw too, but let's not be too negative

WOW!!! Burnley have stormed past Liverpool to 4th in the league standing. Good job to the team who puts big teams who have invested heavily in players to shame!!! Liverpool must win to move back to 4th.

Buxton: Klopp must drop Lovren before it's too late

Croatian defender's unforced errors have cost the team again and again

Richard Buxton

Columnist

TNP

Dec 13, 2017

Dejan Lovren is no longer the architect of Liverpool's mistakes. He is the mistake.

Juergen Klopp cannot see the wood for the trees and, seemingly, neither can the Croat.

Reds legend Jamie Carragher's advice that Lovren should "get back in the dressing room" after costing his side maximum points against Everton on Sunday clearly fell on deaf ears.

Storming through the bowels of Anfield after the game, he criticised and castigated anyone who dared disagree that he was the wronged party in conceding a late penalty.

Short-sighted though it may have been, Klopp's greatest folly was not omitting Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho from his starting line-up in the Merseyside Derby.

It was that, despite everything, the heavily maligned defender's name remained on his team sheet.

Through it all, the Liverpool manager's patience with Lovren appears limitless when some of his teammates have found themselves marginalised for less.

But that special treatment must finally run out when West Brom travel to Merseyside tomorrow morning (Singapore time).

Individually and collectively, the 28-year-old has cost Klopp's side at least nine points in all competitions.

Everton are not alone in benefiting from Lovren's unforced errors. Tottenham, Sevilla and Watford also prospered before them.

Four fatal mistakes from 18 games is still four too many, particularly for a player with over 100 outings and supposedly at the peak of his career.

Had Liverpool not disgraced themselves with a ham-fisted pursuit of Virgil van Dijk last summer, they could have been sitting second in the EPL, two points clear of Manchester United and closing the gap on runaway leaders Manchester City to just nine points.

The Dutch centre back is by no means faultless but still far less error-prone than Lovren.

Be it next month or in the summer transfer window, Klopp has to right the wrongs of the van Dijk saga.

Until that time comes, however, the German coach must come to terms with the fact that Lovren is unlikely to improve, no matter how many opportunities he is afforded.

Klopp is no stranger to handing a baptism of fire to youngsters, particularly this season.

Dominic Solanke, 20, was plunged into the spotlight against both Everton and Stoke City in recent weeks, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, 19, has found himself alternating with 20-year-old Joe Gomez at right back.

Gomez has deputised flawlessly in Nathaniel Clyne's prolonged absence, coming of age after a lengthy injury layoff had curtailed an impressive start to his Liverpool career.

Klopp had barely parked himself in the Anfield hot seat before losing the versatile defender's services.

Almost a decade Lovren's junior, the new England international has shown himself more than capable of operating at a level far above his under-performing teammate.

Versatility has been Gomez's greatest obstacle in making a positional shift into a preferred role of central defence.

Fragile confidence is also a non-issue, with the youngster showing no signs of copying the hissy fits which have become as synonymous with Lovren as his costly errors.

Klopp saw, from a distance, the damage that Mario Balotelli inflicted on the former manager.

If Brendan Rodgers had his time again at Liverpool, indulging the Italian striker would certainly not be on his to-do list.

It ultimately cost his side a place in the Champions League.

Lovren may not be as incendiary as Balotelli's maverick personality but he remains no less catastrophic.

History could repeat itself if Klopp does not belatedly see the error of his ways.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Congrats to our Egyptian Pharaoh and hope he ends this season with the golden boot

Mohamed Salah named BBC African Footballer of the Year

By Piers Edwards

BBC Africa sport

Egyptian Mohamed Salah has been voted BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2017.

Following a record number of votes, the Liverpool star won ahead of Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Guinean Naby Keita, Sadio Mane of Senegal and Nigeria's Victor Moses.

"I am very happy to win this award," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport.

"It's always a special feeling when you win something. I feel like I had a great year, so I'm very happy."

Salah, the Premier League's top scorer with 13 goals, has enjoyed a stellar year for both club and country.

In early 2017, the forward was the central figure for Egypt as they finished runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He also had a hand in all seven of the goals that took the Pharaohs to their first World Cup since 1990 - assisting two and scoring five, including the stoppage-time penalty against Congo that qualified them for Russia.

"I want to be the best Egyptian ever so I work hard," added Salah, who is the third player from Egypt to win the award and first since 2008.

"I always follow my own way and I want everyone in Egypt to follow my way."

Salah's form at club level has been every bit as impressive as it has in internationals.

In Italy, he scored 15 goals and made 11 others as he helped Roma finish second in Serie A, their best league placing in seven years, prior to joining Liverpool and scoring 13 times in his first 16 league games.

"I would like to thank my Liverpool team-mates and I also had a good season with Roma so I have to thank my team-mates there and my team-mates in the national team," said Salah.

"Since I came here, I wanted to work hard and show everyone my football. I wanted to come back to the Premier League since I left, so I am very happy."

Salah has taken the Premier League by storm this season, in contrast to a less impressive spell in the division with Chelsea between 2014-15.

"It's well-deserved," said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who handed the trophy to the player at the club's Melwood training academy.

"I am a really lucky person. I had the opportunity to work with a few outstanding players and I am happy that it is now with Mo.

"The good thing is that he is still young, there is a lot of space for improvement, a lot of potential still that we can work on, but that's how it should be. It's a big pleasure, to be honest, to work with him."

By winning the BBC African Footballer of the year prize Salah adds his name to a list of legends including Jay-Jay Okocha (Nigeria), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) and Michael Essien (Ghana).

"I am very happy to be like them in winning this award," said Salah, who follows compatriots Mohamed Barakat (2005) and Mohamed Aboutrika (2008) in receiving the trophy.

Ah Gong really don't understand why certain Liverpool players keep on making mistakes that cost the team to drop points . Ah Gong hope that the team can pick up another 3 points in the next game.

Hope we forget about the last match, the silly mistakes and the debatable ‘wrong tactics’ and give WBA a good whacking tonight! No excuse for dropping points liao!!!
